Interview with Jaco Bal, director and co-founder of the online radio station YPCA, the Radiofabriek.
The subject of this podcast is digital visibility and presentation. How do you as an entrepreneur see and hear digitally? My guest is Jaco Bal, director and co-founder of the online radio station YPCA, the Radio Factory.
Jaco started online radio in 2001, together with Lars Schotanus. The experience and background of both, Jaco in the telecom (KPN) and Lars in the media (Radio 538, TMF), came together nicely.
YPCA, the Radio Factory, devises, develops, supplies and exploits media concepts. YPCA does this both under its own label and on behalf of customers. What is the advantage of online radio (also called podcast)? According to Jaco, it is the low threshold. It is now very normal for companies to create content themselves (Zuidweg & Partners does this too!) And he tries to stimulate that with YPCA. YPCA now has three stations: Traffic Radio, ALLsportsradio and New Business Radio.
Online radio has been around for a long time and, according to Jaco, is becoming increasingly common. He indicates that Google will make podcasts widely accessible and Spotify has not been around for that long and is now an indispensable part. And that is great fun. Everyone has their own radio program! How does he see the future of YPCA? He wants to expand the company further and further. It would be very nice if YPCA had multiple studios with even more programs so that the creative people come and go with creative content.
