A day in the Radio Factory!
"Daddy, what are you going to do?" "You know that right?" I say back to Daphne, my youngest 11 year old daughter. “No, actually not…, don't you do something on the internet?” She asks curiously. “Well Daphne!”, Especially for you, here is a short report of a random day in the Radio Factory.
It is early morning when my train arrives at Media Park Station. Listening to Traffic Radio LIVE through my headphones! with Rick van Velthuysen. Because the Radiofabriek actually starts every working day with Rick on my way!
The first program makers enter the Radio Factory at 8.30 am. The first radio broadcast 'Let's Talk Business' will start on New Business Radio from 10.00 a.m. The studio guests for this first broadcast arrive on time at 9.30 am. After receipt and a cup of coffee, the broadcast is discussed in advance.
Between 11.00:12.00 and 12.00:XNUMX there is still room for a few short Business Updates, but from XNUMX:XNUMX the studio must be empty again for a new episode of ALLsportsradio LIVE! This daily sports program is packed with sports news, various telephone interviews and two nice studio guests.
While ALL sports radio LIVE! is busy, we have a short team meeting during our lunch, in which we all go through the coming weeks of programming. The radio studio is fully scheduled almost every week. Fortunately, we get a second radio studio after the summer holidays, because it is becoming increasingly difficult to accommodate new programs.
During the day, behind the scenes, a production team on the assembly line is working on putting articles, messages and podcasts online. Of course we use our websites for this, but our social media channels also play an important role.
At the beginning of the afternoon I have an appointment with a well-known advertiser. I tell how we make online radio all day long. When asked whether we still use radio commercials, the answer is yes, but only if it suits the station. And I quickly add to it. Why would you stuff a story in 20 seconds if you can tell it in 10 minutes or maybe in an hour. So storytelling!
The radio program BV Sport has now gone live on ALLsportsradio, with Jan Lammers as the main guest. After the BV Sport, the studio is quickly prepared for a new Let's Talk Business on New Business Radio.
It has already been 18.00 pm. Traffic Radio LIVE has been on the road for an hour. It is a busy evening rush hour with over 180 km traffic jam. Soon on the way home on the train, listen and enjoy my favorite radio item #train life.
On the train, I quickly take a photo of my train compartment and tweet it to @trafficradionl with the text: after a busy day I am now on my way home #train life #speciaalvoordaphne, #eendaginderadiofabriek.
