Interview with Ralph Markwat, director of FHC Formula Management and a franchisor member of the Dutch Franchise Association (NFV)
The subject of this podcast is franchise. My guest is Ralph Markwat, director of FHC Formula Management and a franchisor who has been a member of the Dutch Franchise Association (NFV) for many years.
Ralph says that his father started FHC Formulebeheer in 1994: franchisor in the catering industry, real estate and catering. In 2009 he took over the baton and the company changed into the formulas: Family (cafeteria with eatery function), Foodmaster (cafeteria with takeaway function) and Vital4Skool (healthy school canteens in secondary schools).
As indicated, FHC Formula Management is a member of the Dutch Franchise Association (www.nfv.nl), the advocate for franchised Netherlands. The NFV has a great deal of in-house knowledge and provides advice to franchisors and contractors. In addition, interesting workshops and round table sessions are also organized. In recent years, much has been written about franchise, in particular about the Dutch Franchise Code, which includes the rights and obligations of both parties, as well as rules of conduct when entering into, executing and dissolving a franchise agreement. There would be a law, but it will be canceled.
According to Ralph, more and more types of franchisors are emerging, the offer is becoming increasingly diverse. And that is very nice to see, he indicates. It shows that franchise is a good business model. He does indicate that franchise is not suitable for every entrepreneur, it must suit you.
Ralph's tip: become a member of the Dutch Franchise Association! I get a lot of knowledge from it and learn from the experiences of other members and that is very useful.
